Wayland High School sophomore Charity Laker Saturday captured fourth place in the state individual wrestling tournament at Ford Field, Detroit. The daughter of the Rev. Lance and Kara Laker, she also has been a member of the Wayland High School girls’ basketball team. She is the first Wayland girl to qualify for the state tourney. Her mother, Kara, also a Wildcat athlete and a coach, declared, “Such an amazing first year of wrestling! We are all so thankful for the love and support of our family, friends, and teammates! So many moments we will talk about for a lifetime. She is ready to do this all over again next year!”
