Wayland’s sequicentennial festival will be July 20-21

The 150th anniversary of Wayland as a municipality will be featured in the annual Main Street summer celebration downtown later this month.

Wayland was incorporated as a village in 1868 and it became a city in 1967, a year before it celebrated its centennial. In days gone by, the village held a Cowbell Carnival in late August, which was succeeded in subsequent Julys by a Summerfest celebration.
