Wayne Henry Helmholdt, of Dorr, died Saturday, Nov. 7. He was 83.

Wayne was born in Moline, on June 13, 1937, to Matilda and John Helmholdt. Wayne loved the yearly trips to Silver Lake with his 65 family members present.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Sharon Ann Helmholdt (Roosendaal), and their children, Carlene (Tom) Cooke, Doug (Barb) Helmholdt, Joan (Brian) Hibma, Denise (Mark) Scholten and David (Amanda) Helmholdt. Also surviving are 29 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Helmholdt; mother, Matilda DeYoung; grandchildren Andy Rusticus, Katie Hibma, Jeremy Hibma; brothers Owen and Keith Helmholdt; and his sister, Avis Helmholdt.

In keeping with his wishes, private graveside family services will be held at Dorr Cemetery.
