Wayland High School athletic director and assistant principal Justin Wilson is reported to be leaving to take the principal’s job at Ravenna High School.

Wilson, who came on board at Wayland in the summer of 2014 as athletic director, is believed to be leaving at the end of this month. He succeeded Kevin Zaschak, who resigned to AD’s post to become principal at Dorr Elementary.

Ravenna is not far from where he grew up as a graduate of Holton High School, where he once played football for current Wayland High School Principal Tom Cutler.

Superintendent Norm Taylor said, “We would love to keep him, however, we don’t anticipate any principal openings in the near future. We are currently posting his position to find a replacement.”

Wilson earned his bachelor’s degree in English language and literature from Grand Valley State University in 2008.

Before coming to Wayland, he served as athletic director at Holton High School.  taught English and government and coached football, basketball and baseball for the Red Devils.

His wife is a physical education teacher in an area district and she serves as a varsity tennis coach in another district.
