Wayland High School Principal Tom Cutler has announced he will retire effective June 30, the end of the current academic year.
Superintendent Dr. Christina Hinds confirmed the development, saying, “He shared the news with the high school staff this morning. Mr. Cutler is retiring effective June 30.”
Cutler has served the district as high school principal since 2002, when he succeeded the retiring Jack Deming. He was promoted from his assistant principal’s post for which he was hired in 1999.
He earned his bachelor of science degree in 1991 from Olivet College and later was awarded a master’s degree in educational leadership from Western Michigan University. He taught and coached for four years at Holton Public Schools and was promoted to assistant principal in 1996.
Let me begin with thanking the district and the Board of Education for the opportunity to serve the students, staff and community of Wayland Union Schools. What a privilege it has been to work within the walls of Wayland Union High School for the past 20 plus years.!
“I am looking forward to my upcoming retirement, spending quality time with my family, traveling and other leisure time activities. I will truly miss working with our administrative team and staff and the wonderful work environment I was fortunate enough to work in for all of these years.”
