John DolegowskiThe driver of the car involved in a fatal traffic crash that killed John Dolegowski of Watson ToSheriff logownship will face a felony charge in connection with the Dec. 16 incident.

A 45-year-old woman is accused accused of driving with a suspended license when she was alleged to have blown a stop sign at 22nd Street and 130th Avenue, according to the Allegan County Sheriff’s Department.

The accused woman’s sister, owner of the car involved in the crash, also faces a felony for knowingly permitting a person with a suspended license to operate the vehicle. The suspects’ names will not be released until after they have been arraigned Jan. 11. The driver was arrested Tuesday, Dec. 22, and now is free on bond pending arraignment. If convicted, she faces up to 15 years in prison.

 

Dolegowski, 58, was thrown from his pickup truck after his vehicle was struck because he was not wearing a seat belt. He was taken to Spectrum Butterworth Hospita, where he was pronounced dead shortly afterward.

The woman’s car caught fire after the collision and she was taken to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital for treatment of her injuries.
