A 21-year-old Otsego woman who allegedly took part in a series of crimes last month in Watson Township has been bound over to Allegan County Circuit Court.
Haley Jenkins, 21, has pleaded innocent to one count of breaking and entering with intent, two counts of unlawful driving away of an automobile and one count of larceny of a firearm.
She waived her right to a preliminary hearing and District Judge William Baillargeon bound her over to Allegan County Circuit Court.
Authorities said Jenkins and her boyfriend, Kenneth Lapham, 34, also of Otsego, were involved in three break-ins and two stolen automobiles Thursday, Aug. 4, beginning at about 8 a.m. when the suspect’s sister reported she arrived home to her residence in Watson and observed that her sister and sister’s boyfriend had been inside her home. The suspects fled the scene when discovered. Deputies began looking for the couple and the suspect’s vehicle.
Deputies were summoned to another residence in Watson after a victim returned home around 3:30 p.m. and found the home had been broken into. Food and a handgun had been stolen, along with the victim’s Chevrolet Impala.
Deputies were dispatched to a third residence around 5:30 p.m. when a victim reported finding a revolver, small amount of money and a Dodge Ram pickup had been stolen.
The pair was caught Aug. 8,found by police at a home on Lincoln Road in Otsego because the vehicle last stolen, a Dodge Ram, was seen sitting outside.
Lapham, 34, is charged with two counts of first degree home invasion, two counts of unlawfully driving away an automobile, two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, two counts of felony firearms and two counts of larceny of a firearm. He is also charged with torture, unlawful imprisonment, assault with intent to commit great bodily harm and aggravated domestic violence in one case.
