A pickup truck struck a female pedestrian Monday morning in Wayland Township near the Orchard Hills Golf Course.

Michigan State Police troopers indicated the morning bright sun may have been a factor in the accident, which took place at about 7:30 a.m. on 126th Avenue just west of 7th Street.

Authorities said the woman, who lives in the township, was walking on 126th when she was struck by a pickup truck traveling east, but they did not know whether she was walking in the road or alongside.

The pedestrian was taken to the hospital, where it isn’t known yet the extent of her injuries  The driver of the pickup was not hurt.
