Townbroadcast this past weekend published an editorial that included incorrect and misleading information.

In an opinion piece about saving local history, the author incorrectly indicated that Fifelski’s Marathon gas station and towing service has purchased the Then & Now Historical Library next door. Billy Fifelski, in a letter to the Dorr Township Board 11 months ago, indicated his interest in purchasing the building i9n oder to expand his business.

However, there has been no offer made since on any transaction.

Townbroadcast regrets any misunderstanding that may have resulted.

An article published in Townbroadcast in March 2018 stated:

“The Then & Now Historical Library near the corner of 18th Street and 142nd Avenue in downtown Dorr may have only a couple of years to vacate the building in which it operates.

“The Township Board Thursday night disclosed a letter from William Fifelski Jr. of the Fifelski Marathon gas station and towing service of intentions to expand the business, which means Then & Now must find new quarters. Fifelski indicated he has a healthy respect for what the historical service does in the community and would allow it to continue for perhaps two years or time enough to find a new home.”

Prospects for Then & Now to remain in its current quarters without paying any taxes or utilities remain dicey, in the author’s opinion.

I forgive you Dave . The worst thing in bygone days is the 50 years ago part. I tell my wife i can remember that. Makes me feel old. I wish we could go back 50 years times were a lot better.
