Townbroadcast published its customary “Bygone Days” column this week that included a report of the expulsion of Troy Sevigny from Wayland High School for bringing a sawed-off shotgun and ammunition to the premises. Unfortunately, there were two Troy Sevignys at that time.

The one who was expelled actually was a Troy Parfait, who somehow took on the last name of Sevigny when he attended Wayland High School in 1992. The report of the incident was published in the May 13, 1992, edition of the Penasee Globe.

The other Troy Sevigny was a student at Plainwell High School and had nothing to do with the incident described in “Bygone Days.” He and his wife and family today live in Wayland and his children have attended Wayland schools.

The whereabouts today of Troy Parfait (aka Sevigny) is unknown, according to the Troy Sevigny who now lives in Wayland. Sevigny said he has received some disturbing calls regarding the 25-year-old incident since it was published Wednesday evening and he wanted the record set straight.

Townbroadcast regrets the misunderstanding.
