Hannah Couch, Laura Velderman, Jasmine Fisher and Emma Helder proudly displayed the regional trophy two years ago. They’ll be back in action at the Silver meet Monday.

The O-K Silver Conference track meet has been rescheduled and moved, and Hopkins has no interest in a repeat of last year’s competition.

The league meet originally was scheduled for Friday at Calvin Christian, but unseasonably cold and rainy weather caused it to be moved to Monday afternoon and evening at Belding.

The Lady Vikings are in the same position they were a year ago, undefeated in six dual meets. But Belding came up with a big day in May 2017 to pull into a tie with Hopkins in the final standings. The league championship is determined by a combination of dual meet results and league meet results.

Interestingly, Belding has suffered only two dual meet losses in girls’ track over the last several years. Both have been to Hopkins.

The Hopkins girls were winners over NorthPointe Christian, 110-19, last Saturday in the Hopkins Invitational. NorthPointe joined the meet and asked that it be used as a dual meet as well by comparing performances and times. The Viking boys won by an 86-32 count to bring a 2-4 dual meet record into the Silver meet Monday.

The Lady Vikings will be shooting for their seventh straight Silver championship or co-championship. But coaches Brooke Brenner, Molly Lump and Jamie Kiss aren’t interested in history repeating itself from a year ago.
