Wayland High School graduate Tyler Merren, who now lives in Greenville, will take part in his fifth Paralymic Games this summer representing the USA in the unusual sport of goalball. The team is made up of visually impaired athletes. Merren is the oldest member at age 40.

Martin earns district softball tourney championship

The Martin softball team claimed the Division 4 district championship Saturday, beating Gobles in the finals, 7-5. The Lady Clippers defeated Climax-Scotts 12-1 in the tourney semifinals earlier in the day. Martin will play Mendon at Mendon at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 8, in the regional semifinals.
