Jayda Gale Distillery and Restaurant, which closed Sept. 1 at its South Main Street location in downtown Wayland, continues to make overtures on its Facebook page, indicating it may reopen soon.

The latest installment was, “We are working ever so fast to get open. We are trying to get open just before Thanksgiving. With that being said… when we open there is obviously going to be growing pains of execution.

“We encourage you to try some of our food. Our food will be very different than any place in town. We will NOT have burgers, pizza or hot dogs. We do not want to take away any business from our neighbors. Our goal is to get families to eat in town that would normally drive to Otsego or Grand Rapids.

“Most of our food will be handmade, and we will specialize in tacos and pub- style nachos… What’s your favorite style of Taco? Let us know.”

The Jayda Gale Facebook site has been teasing readers with a notion it might come back. There was even a survey offered to determine what kind of restaurant it should be, with Mexican winning the unscientific poll and streakhouse finishing second.

Owner Ryan Levett has indicated a desire to be different, not just with drinks, but also with food.
