Plans for renovations to the Wayland City Park, which include a splash pad for kids, probably will not be implemented this summer.
City Councilwoman Jennifer Antel told colleagues the Michigan Department of Natural Resources has just signed off on a $45,000 grant to fund improvements for the park. The renovations also include resurfacing of the basketball court and providing new playground equipment.
The grant application was approved last December, but the state did not give its final blessing until this month.
Though Mayor Tim Bala said having the splash pad installed this year “is not out of the question,” Antel said, “It’s not likely to happen this year,” but we hope to have it up and running before next summer.”
