Donna Schurkamp Sweers has died at the age of 68.

Donna attended Muskegon Orchard View Public Schools through 10th grade, and graduated from Wayland High School in 1971. She attended Blodgett School of Nursing in Grand Rapids, graduating in 1985 with her RN degree. Her whole nursing career was dedicated to working with the elderly in nursing homes.

She held various nursing and management positions during her 35-year career spent in two different states. She supported husband Peter and herself for seven years as volunteer missionaries to Native American youth at Southwest Indian School in Peoria, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Schurkamp, of Dorr, MI and brother-in-law, Marvin Sweers of Florida. She is survived by Peter, her husband and loving partner of 42 years; daughter, Hannah Rae Sweers (fiancé Brandon Villarreal); granddaughters Evangalina Rae and Koraleigh Rayne; mother, Marilyn Schurkamp; sisters Brenda (John) Kool, Kay (Jack) Herp, Lois (DJ) Rottier, and Edwinna Schurkamp; brothers- and sisters-in-law; many nephews and nieces, friends, and colleagues; along with her best friend and spirit sister, Keshia Pacino of Caledonia

There will be a celebration of life event sometime later this year.
