Chester D. Dolegowski, age 96 of Dorr, died Tuesday March 8, in the same house where he was born and lived his entire life.

Chester was born Dec. 11, 1925, to Joseph and Catherine Dolegowski. He was a lifelong member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Hilliards.

On May 7, 1955, he married Marilyn Szczepanek and together they had seven children. Chester was a farmer his entire life and enjoyed playing the accordion, woodworking, baking, making beer and being with his large, noisy family.

Chester is survived by children Larry, Joe, and Ron Dolegowski, Christine (Joe) Scott and Marlene Knox; son-in-law, Kevin Vander Ploeg; grandchildren Jessica, Travis, Trent, Julie, Heather, Amber (Lane), Krysten, Ashley (Andrew), and Jennifer; great-grandchildren Madison and Jaxen; and sister-in-law, Lorraine Szczepanek.

He was preceded in death by wife, Marilyn; daughter, Barbara Vander Ploeg; son, John Dolegowski; siblings John Dolegowski, Josephine Belka, and Jean Juchniewicz.

Visitation is scheduled for 4 to7 p.m. Friday March 11, at Kubiak-Cook – Dorr Chapel, 4330 18th St. A Rosary service will be held at 4 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 1871 136th Ave., Dorr, at 10 a.m. Saturday March 12, with burial taking place at St. Stanislaus Cemetery immediately following.

In memory of Chester and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Stanislaus Church, Wings of Hope Hospice, and the Diocese of Kalamazoo annual appeal.
