Both the Hopkins boys’ and girls’ track teams have been on somewhat of a roll of late. The Vikings captured first place in the Watervliet Relays last Friday night and the guys went undefeated in an O-K Silver Conference quad meet Tuesday.
The ladies beat Calvin Christian 90-33 and Comstock Park 90-31, but lost 84-53 to league front-runner Belding. The guys edged Calvin Christian 67-66 and beat Comstock Park 94-39 and Belding 78-57.
Trent Baugh picked up a first in the 200-meter dash in 23.95 seconds, his fastest time to date. He also was first in the 400-meter run in 54.95 seconds and went 19-7 to win the long jump.
Miles Corneille and Kaden Edwards didn’t win the 800, but finished 2-3 to pickup four valuable points against Calvin Christian.
Isaac Koperski (17.32) and freshman Clayton Kerber gained a boatload of points by coming in first and second, respectively, in the 110-meter high hurdles. Jacob Helder,, Kerber and Koperski went 2-3-4 in the 300 hurdles.
The Vikings didn’t do particularly well in the relays, except in the 1600, where Noah Corneille, Elder, Miles Corneille and Baugh turned in a time of 3:46.66 to win.
Aiden Janowski won the discus at 133-6 and Mason Tomes was second in both the discus and the shot put.
Landen Klinge soared an even 12 feet to win the pole vault by four feet.
Freshman Riley Homrich and Sierra Emaus went 2-3 in the 100-meter dash for the Lady Vikings. Nevaeh Helderop and Jaeden Harshberger did the same in the 800.
Harshberger turned in her personal best at 64.99 seconds to take the open 400 and she recorded her best high jump at 4-10, taking second. Helderop also was first in the 3200.
Sophomore Kambria Moored again won the 100-meter high hurdles, this time in 17.10 seconds, and she took the 300 hurdles in 50.99.
Moored, Ellarie Baugh, Emaus and Homrich edged Beading’s entry by a half a second in the 400-meter relay with a time of 53.36 seconds.
Emaus leaped 15-2 to capture first place in the long jump.
How about the one hit shutout the Viking boys baseball team had yesterday. Our Grandson pitched it!!!
