The Wayland High School boys’ bowling squad won the Christmas Baker Tournament Thursday afternoon at Park Center Lanes in Grand Rapids.
The Wildcats qualified second out of 14 teams, actually leading most of the way before winning in the final round.
The first roll off match was against neighbor rival Hopkins and Wayland won 315-283.
“Surprisingly, we didn’t meet the number one qualifier, Cedar Springs, as they were knocked out by Division 1 East Kentwood,” remarked coach Sherry Miklusicak.
The Wildcats then bested East Kentwood in the finals, 342-275.
