The Leighton Township Board will have a budget workshop at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, and then a public hearing on the proposed 2015-16 fiscal year budget at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 12.
Several expenses for next year’s budget were determined at Thursday night’s regular meeting.
All of the board members will get 1% pay raises. Clerk Mary Lou Nieuwenhuis and Treasurer Char Troost both will make an annual salary of $25,541, Supervisor Steve Deer will get $16,234 and Trustees John Hooker and Brian Bonnema both will be paid an annual stipend of $2,857.
Another expense will be about $52,000 for gravel work to be done this year on 139th, 140th and 144th avenues, as recommended by the Allegan County Road Commission. The price was set at up to $10 per cubic yard.
Slight correction on the gravel cost… $10 per yard OR LESS, But the estimate is for 5,200 yards so the cost might run as high as $52,000 – not the $2,000 indicated.
