City to clarify reservations for pavilions in park

Wayland Park PavilionThe Wayland City Council Monday night acknowledged clarification on policy for use of pavilions in the city park is needed in the wake of a recent unfortunate incident.

City Finance Director Cheri Parrish told council members she refunded the rental fee paid by an out of town couple who wanted to use one of the pavilions for a child’s birthday party. The couple had rented a pavilion, but none were available for use when they arrived.

“I felt really bad for them,” Parrish said.

It was suggested that all pavilion reservations be made known to the police department and perhaps some kind of sign be installed at one of the two structures in the park. Parrish and council members agreed that those who secured reservations shouldn’t be required to confront current users.

  1. I would think a simple “reserved” sign with name, date and time could be installed and updated each week.
