Miner succeeds the late Pat Staley on Wayland Twp. Board

Matt Miner has been appointed to the Wayland Township Board trustee’s seat vacated by the death of Patricia Staley.

Miner, who is no stranger to local government, was sworn in at Monday night’s board meeting. A member of the Wayland Township Planning Commission, he will continue to serve on that panel in an ex-officio (non-voting) capacity.

Miner served on the Wayland City Planning Commission and was vice chairman when he was forced to resign in 2014 because he was moving out of the city after building a house in Wayland Township. He was appointed to the township’s Planning Commission shortly afterward.

A 2001 graduate of Wayland High High School and a producer and agent for the Reno Insurance Agency, Miner and his wife, Amanda, have two children.

Miner will be expected to run for the trustee’s seat in the August 2018 primary election, to fill out the remainder of Staley’s four-year term.

In my opinion Matt Miner will serve Wayland Township in the same admirable way he served the City of Wayland. My very best wishes to him in his new relationship with the Township.
