Services Friday in Byron Center for Betty Stevens

Betty Geraldine Stevens, 93, died Monday, April 26.

Betty loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, spending as much time with them as possible. She enjoyed playing card games, such as Euchre at the V.F.W. and was also named the shuffle board champion at the V.F.W. At the young age of 72, she went parasailing in Mexico. She was always up for an adventure such as sailing from Grand Haven to Pensacola on the Mississippi River, boating on Gun Lake and partying with “the locals.”

She is survived by her children Dan (Barb) Stevens, Sherry (Kirk) VanNortwick, Bette (Nate) Woods; grandchildren Stacey (Don) Darrow, Amy (John) Brinks, Jessica (Joe) Pitcher, Glenn (Amber) VanNortwick, Kimberly (Brandon) Fritts, Steven Heintzelman, Brittney (Ben) Isbell, Danielle Farr, Jakob Woods, Miranda Stevens, Jeffrey Stevens; 21 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Claude Jeffery.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 30, 2021 at Frontline Bible Church, 8283 Pfeiffer Farms Drive, Byron Center, with visitation from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Betty will be laid to rest at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

In memory of Betty and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Holland.
