The annual Fourth of July celebration in Dorr Township, one of the largest in West Michigan, will be held this year between Friday, July 1, and  Monday 1 4, with most events taking place in the South Park west of the downtown along 142nd Avenue.

Friday, July 1

The festival will get under way at 5 p.m. Friday, July 1, with the carnival being set up.

Saturday, July 2

• A flag raising will kick off events at 8 a.m. Saturday, followed by the Freedom 5K run, starting and ending at North Park.

• A “Pulse of Summer” community blood drive will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at North Park.

• The carnival will start up again at 1 p.m. Saturday and run until dark.

• The bingo tent will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at North Park.

• A disc golf tournament will get under way at 7 p.m. and last until about 10 p.m.

• The second annual Dorr Summer Sizzler NTPA Truck and Tractor Pull will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. at 2245 144th Ave.

Sunday, July 3

• A Dorr Bible Church community worship service will be offered at 11 a.m. at the South Park Stage.

• The carnival will resume from 1 p.m. until dark at South Park.

• The Patriots and Pinups Auto Cruise In show and music will start at 2 p.m. at South Park.

• A cornhole tournament will be available starting at 4 p.m. at South Park.

• A free outdoor movie at the South Park Stage will be presented at dark.

Monday, July 4

• The annual Dorr Independence Day Parade will step off at 10:30 a.m. downtown.

• A Johnny Cash Tribute Band will perform at the South Park Stage at noon.

• The carnival will resume, from noon to dark at South Park.

• The ox roast and chicken barbecue will start serving at noon at the South park Pavilion.

• The Luke Lenhart Band will perform at 6 p.m. at the South Park Stage, followed by Music in the Park by Deer Field Run.

• The fireworks show will conclude the celebration at dusk Monday in South Park.
