A number of local residents this week have been receiving notices from Consumers Energy announcing planned outages for seven hours overnight Saturday, April 6, and perhaps Saturday, April 13.

In a communication widely circulated in Wayland City and surrounding areas, the company said, “We understand power outages are inconvenient. That’s why we work around the the clock to minimize interruptions. However, for our crew to safely complete the electrical system upgrade near you, we’re planning a power outage…”

The outage will begin at 11 p.m. Saturday night and will conclude at about 6 a.m. Sunday, April 7. If crews are unable to complete the work on the first scheduled night, they will resume the outage at 11 p.m. Saturday, April 13, for another seven-hour period.
