Memorial service is May 11 at VFW for Judy Wheeler

Judy Rae Wheeler, age 80 of Shelbyville, died Thursday, April 25.

Judy was born May 7, 1943, in Grand Rapids, Michigan to William and Marietta Schebergen.

Throughout her life, she was a beacon of love and friendship. She nurtured deep connections with her family and effortlessly formed lasting relationships with those she met.

She found delight in life’s simple pleasures: the tranquility of fishing, the challenge of golf, the camaraderie over a deck of cards, the creativity in her cooking, and the solace found within the pages of a good book.

Surviving are her loving daughters Kelly Lee Cook and Susan Rae Wheeler; stepson, Ronald Cecil; and sister, Karen (Wilbur) Ringnalda; grandchildren Cory, Cydne, Colin, Clint, Aubrey, Jesse, and Christopher; as well as her many great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and a host of dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stuart Wheeler; son, David Wheeler; sisters Bette Tein and Leota Zywicki; and brother, William Schebergen.

A memorial service celebrating Judy’s life will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at Wayland VFW Post #7581, 735 S. Main St.. They kindly request that any memorial contributions be directed to PAWS with a Cause or to a charity that was meaningful to Judy.
