Wayland Union High School students will present a classic story, “Robin Hood & the Heroes of Sherwood Forest,” Friday and Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon, Feb. 27-March 1 in the Wayland Union Fine Arts Center.
This fresh adaptation of the well-known English tale by Randy Wyatt emphasizes a community of heroes rather than a one-man approach. Robin Hood and his friends band together to save the poor people of Nottingham from unjust taxation and poverty at the hands of Prince John and his long-suffering yet cruel sheriff. Two gypsy orphans, Maid Marion’s handmaiden and a mysterious stranger share a secret that could win the day — or see Robin hanged by morning!
The play is directed by Rebecca Black with the following cast members:
Riley Miller as Alan-a-dale, Corey Ordway as Robin Hood, Corry Hancock as Little John, Dav-Lynn Buttner as Scarlett, Zack Karman as David of Duncaster, Monique Pou as Friar Tuck, Callie Johnson as Maid Marion, Rachel Bouterse as Geneiveve, Dietrich Mueller as Prince John, Rachel Zywiczynski as Talone, Ridge Reigler as the Sherriff of Nottingham, Kelsey Ryder as Lady Nottingham, Emily Henderson as Natty Nottingham, Megan Van Hees as Rucky, Megan Berg as Flora, Josh Cole as King Richard, Lizzy Cobb and Caila Van Hees as Guards. Additional cast members: Lexa Benn, Tiara Vincent, Vanessa Cappon, Caitlin Fields,and Jessica Noble.
Performances will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, and Saturday, Feb. 28, and at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 1, in the Wayland Union Fine Arts Center at 870 E. Superior St., Wayland. Admission is free of charge.
