Three Wayland staffers selected for education awards

2016 OPE WinnersThree Wayland Union schools’ staff members were selected to be recognized at the Allegan County School Boards Association banquet June 15 at the Hopkins High School cafeteria with Outstanding People for Education awards.

They were (from left) Laurie Zywiczynski, director of community relations; Ace Hulbert, high school teacher, and Cheryl Wilson, technology teacher consultant.

The Outstanding People for Education award, sponsored by the Allegan County School Boards Association. recognizes individuals who are excelling in their field and who are making a significant impact on education. Wayland Union Schools recognized 30 nominees for this year’s award at the May 16 school board meeting. From the nominees, three  winners from Wayland were selected.

This year’s nominees were: Nicki Cardosa, Lona Clairmont, Casey Demmink, Laura Foster, Kathy Hamacher, Mike Hudson, Ace Hulbert, Rhonda Hulbert, Nancy Hyde, Travis Jonker, Erin Koopman, Aleisa Licari, David Long, Marcia Merren, Coralie Miller, Karen Nofsinger, Kris Northrop, Julie Oddy, Sarah Rollandini, Sue Salhaney, Justin Sherrod, Ben Sleeman, Andrea VandenBerg, Shelby VanKuiken, Nate Warsen, Laura Wierckz, Cami Williams, Cheryl Wilson, Aaron Wissner and Laurie Zywiczynski.
