Davenport University has been the beneficiary of many Wayland High School softball players and it has just added yet another one. Senior Abby Merice, shown here at her signing ceremony with parents Shane Donahue Merice and David Merice, will become the latest in a long line of Panthers, including pitcher Mallory Teunissen, infielder Morgan Teunissen, infielder-outfielder Bethany Teunissen, and first and third sacker Haley Obetts. Merice, a southpaw, also is a pitcher, but probably will see most of her action in the outfield. Interestingly, her older sister Kayla opted instead to be a star catcher at Alma College.
