Adults now will have to pay $5 to get into WHS athletic events

Wildcat logo2All adults attending Wayland High School athletic events will be charged $5 apiece, starting with the 2015-16 academic year.

Wayland students (with ID or accompanied by an adult) and children under age 5 will continue to be allowed to attend free of charge.

The school district for two years followed a policy of allowing all students and adults in the district to get into athletic events for free, with some of the Gun Lake Casino revenue sharing picking up the costs, However, the policy was changed by the Wayland Board of Education earlier this summer.

Adults will be able to buy a yearly pass at $75 apiece. All senior citizens at least 60 years old can attend events for free.

Adults also may volunteer to work five athletic events a year to earn a pass. The work includes taking tickets or working the concession stand.
