Wayland’s star 6-2 junior pivot Stephanie Ainsworth suffered an injury on the first play of the game Tuesday night and had to sit out a 70-31 shellacking at the hands of Grand Rapids Christian.
The Lady Wildcats’ leading scorer and rebounder was missing in action, as their season record fell to 9-4 overall and 2-4 in the O-K Gold Conference.
The news wasn’t good for the Wayland boys, either, as later in the evening they fell 71-46 to the Eagles, who are undefeated thus far this season.
Christian jumped out to a 21-15 advantage at the end of the first quarter and was up 36-20 and 62-27 at the other two period stops.
Guards Parrish Hudson and Kenzie Wolf both scored seven points and Katy Anderson and Emma Ludema added five.
