Just when you may haveGirls-Golf thought Ali Martus couldn’t possibly outdo what she’s already done, she proves you wrong.

Not only did the all-state Wayland High School senior golfer break 40 for nine holes for the 12th straight time in 12 opportunities this season, she did it in style Tuesday by firing a school record 35, one under par.

The Lady Wildcats, playing at the Railside Golf Course in another O-K Gold Conference jamboree, took third place among the five schools competing in the season. The ‘Cats have finished third or fourth in every 2015 league meet.

Alexis Kirschbaum also had a good day, tying her career best 44 for nine holes, and Hunter Fenton checked in with a 54.

Wayland had a team score of 194. South Christian, the likely league champion, carded a 185 and Hastngs was second at 189. Grand Rapids Catholic Central had a 212 and Middleville Thornapple Kellogg 235.

Martus has broken 40 for nine holes and 80 for 18 holes in all 12 of her outings this season.

The Lady Wildcats will play Thursday afternoon on their home course at Orchard Hills for the next O-K Gold jamboree.
