Alicia Kent has been selected as the new varsity volleyball coach for Hopkins High School.
She succeeds Terri Wisser, who decided to retire earlier this year after serving as head coach since 1990.
Kent was the Hopkins High School junior varsity volleyball coach under Wisser’s guidance for 15 year after leading the middle school squad for two years before that. She stepped down from the junior varsity post for a couple of years and now is being asked to take over the varsity.
The Vikings captured the O-K Silver Conference championship in Wisser’s last season in 2022.
Athletic Director Andrew Mains said, “Being a part of the program for the past two decades, Alicia understands the tradition that has been established for Hopkins Vikings volleyball. We’re excited for her to continue and build on the tradition that has been established.”
Practices for this fall’s season will begin Monday, Aug. 7, after summer camps and workouts are offered in July.
