Allegan, Barry counties survive a tornado warning

A tornado warning for Allegan and Barry Counties was issued just after 9:30 p.m. Tuesday by the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids. The warning specifically applied to northeastern Allegan County, southern Kent County and northwestern Barry County lasting a little less than a half hour. It was noted that a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Wayland moving east at 35 mph. Tree damage was likely. Radar detected a funnel cloud in the Green Lake area and south of Middleville along M-37. There was no touchdown or damage reported.
