The Allegan County Health Department reported today that 22 more county residents have died of the Coronavirus over the past two weeks.

That means 47 people who live in the county have been added to the Covid-19 death toll in the past four weeks. A total of 290 Covid deaths have been reported in the county since the pandemic began in March 2020.

The daily average of new Covid cases over seven days now is 107.1. The same average was 51.1 on Dec. 29.

The rate of positivity in testing now is 19.9 percent, slightly lower than two weeks ago, but well above the 3% health officials cite as manageable

Total hospitalizations since March 2020 are pegged at 411, 10 more than on Dec. 29, and there have been 21,371 cases reported since the pandemic began. A total of 18,884 people have been identified officially as recovered, the same total as a week ago.

All school districts have returned to classes from the holiday break, but they were not in session Thursday because of inclement weather.

In Allegan County, an estimated 79.1% of COVID-19 hospitalizations are among unvaccinated individuals.
