New Assistant Principal Andrew Augustin will begin duties at Dorr Elementary Tuesday, March 9, pending approval by the Board of Education.
Augustin comes to Wayland Union Schools from Thornapple Kellogg, where he taught English language arts and history for one year and was an assistant principal for one year. Prior to this, he taught sixth- and seventh-grade English at Plainwell Community Schools for four years and was a principal intern.
Augustin currently serves on the M-Step Content Advisory Committee. He has three years of experience teaching English for grades 8 to 10 at Edwardsburg Public Schools.
Augustin received his bachelor of arts degree from Grand Valley State University. He has a masters in educational leadership from Central Michigan University and a masters in curriculum and educational technology from Ball State University.
“I am excited to start in my new position as assistant principal at Dorr Elementary; giving me the opportunity to serve the district that my family calls home. This district believes that “all means all,” and I look forward to working with the staff and teachers, parents, students, and community to ensure that our schools are a safe place for every student to show continuous growth and success.”
Augustin succeeds Rachel Cimek, who is now the principal of Baker Elementary.
Maybe they need to up his salary so he can buy a razor?
