
Ann McInerny, who retired as Wayland Township Clerk at the end of 2024, has agreed to serve as temporary deputy clerk for the City of Wayland.
McInerny, who was clerk for the township for eight years, will fill in while current deputy clerk Joyce Jenkins is on medical leave.
Mayor Jennifer Antel quipped to the new deputy clerk, “Welcome to the show.”
But that wasn’t the only personnel change announced Monday evening.
The mayor told council members two Planning Commissioners, Gary Ragan and Anne Tatreaux, are stepping down. They will be replaced by Suzanne Hoek and Elizabeth Beyer.
Former Councilman Rick Mathis and Bob Coffman were appointed to the newly-formed Fire Equipment Advisory Board agreed to both the city and Wayland Township Township representatives will be Ken Keyzer and Bob Fryling. They will be joined later by an at-large appointee.
In other business at Monday night’s meeting, the council:
• Held a first reading of a purchasing ordinance that will require all purchases of at least $1,500 must be approved by the council and all purchases of between $3,501 and $6,000 be drawn up on paper.
- Agreed to the purchase of an AirVac911 exhaust removal system to remove soot and carcinogens at a cost of $5,000.
