The Wayland Union Schools’ annual Summer Fun-Tastic free lunch series for children 18 years old and younger will kick off Monday, June 11, and run through Aug. 17.

The school district again is working with local businesses and the Henika District Library to offer a series of fun, summer events in which a free meal will be provided Monday through Friday each week. (The series will be halted temporarily the week of July 2-6).

The luches will be served at Steeby Elementary School, Hunters Glen Mobile Home Community, Sawmill Estates and Windsor Woods Village. However, lunch for Wednesday, June 13, will be served only at the Wayland City Park during the Bounce Party. Lunch will be served immediately after the events listed below unless otherwise stated.

Sponsors for the program include Auto Body Xperts, Dr. Bloom, Chartwells, Chemical Bank, Clark Hill, Full Potential Chiropractic, Hastings City Bank, KSS Enterprises, Oetman Excavating, ProMow, Reno Agency, Tower Pinkster, Triangle & Associates, United Bank, Wayland Chamber of Commerce, and Wayland Union Education Foundation, and partners  Henika Library, Hunters Glen, Sawmill Estates and Windsor Woods Village.

Besides free meals, free events will be offered to the community:

• Playtime in the Park — Monday, June 11, at 11 a.m. at Wayland City Park. Free book for each family. For children ages birth to 5, older siblings are welcome. Free lunch noon to 12:30 p.m.
• Bounce Party — Wednesday, June 13, at from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wayland City Park.  Kids will have lots of fun playing on large inflatables. Music DJ and coupon for McDonald’s ice cream. Free lunch served 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• Drummunity — Music program, Tuesday, June 19, at 10:30 a.m. at Steeby Elementary. Free lunch from 11:30 to noon.
• Cameron Zvara, magician/comedian — Wednesday, June 20, at 10:45 a.m. at Steeby Elementary. Free lunch, 11: to noon. Free books to first 100 kids.
• Art Attack — Tuesday, June 26, at 10:30 a.m. at Henika Library. Lunch served at Steeby from 11:30 to noon.
• Playtime in the Park — Monday, July 9, at 11 a.m. at Wayland City Park. Free book for each family. For children ages birth to 5, older siblings are welcome to join! Lunch noon to 12:30 p.m.
• Geode Rock Guy – Tuesday, July 10, at 10:30 a.m. at Steeby Elementary. Lunch from 11:30 to noon.
• Wild Animal Super Powers — Tuesday, July 17, at 10:30 a.m. at Steeby Elementary. Lunch at Steeby from 11:30 a.m. to noon
• Kids BINGO — Tuesday, July 24, at 10:30 a.m. Henika Library. Lunch at Steeby Elementary from 11:30 to noon
• Rick Kelley Interactive Music Program – Wednesday, Aug. 1, at 10:30 a.m. at Steeby Elementary. Lunch, 11:30 to noon. Free books to first 100 kids.
• Exotic Zoo Animal Show — Wednesday, Aug. 8, at 10:45 am at Steeby Elementary. Lunch, 11:30 to noon. Free books to first 100 kids.
• Playtime in the Park — Monday, Aug. 13, at 11 a.m. at Wayland City Park. Free book for each family. For children ages birth to 5, older siblings are welcome to join. Lunch, noon to 12:30 p.m.
• Kiwanis Kids Day, Saturday, Aug. 25, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wayland City Park. Lunch, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
