Martin’s girls’ basketball squad put up a big lead out of the gate against Zion Christian Tuesday, but unlike last Friday, it led to victory.

The Lady Clippers were up 14 to 8 after one quarter and led 34 to 18 at the half. Zion narrowed their deficit in the second half, but Martin maintained a solid lead and ultimately won 54-45.

Sophomore Faith Guritz had another great night, putting up 17 points. Guritz also had 12 rebounds, 5 assists, and just as many steals. Kiaya Warner also had a great game with 16 points and Jaclyn Hildebrand contributed 13.

Senior Adrianna Rouwhorst led the Mountaineers with 14 total points. Katie Kamps and Abigale Rouwhorst both put up 8 for Zion.

This Clipper win comes on the heels of last Friday’s close loss by two points to Watervliet, an undefeated force in the SAC. The Lady Clippers, now 3-2, will again travel this Friday to play another conference powerhouse, the Coloma Comets.
