An injured person on a trail in the Yankee Springs Recreation Area  was rescued Sunday by personnel from the Wayland/Yankee Springs Fire Departments and Wayland Area Emergency Services.
Firefighters and emergency responders were alerted by Barry County Central Dispatch and State Park Officers to a report of an injured subject on the trail just before lunch Sunday. A spokesperson said that a UTV would have to be used to get him out to the road.
While the units were en route Central Dispatch kept updating the possible location and the best way in for assistance. Personnel were able to find the injured subject, packaged him up and transported him to the road where WAEMS personnel were waiting to transport him to the hospital.
“We thank those at Barry County Central Dispatch for the time they took in locating the injured subject so we could get to him ASAP due to his injury and the cold weather,” the spokesperson said.
