Army Bob: Are the politically correct prejudiced?

“I would tell you to take your misinterpreted 2nd amendment and (bleep) it up your (bleep).” — A liberal’s eloquent advice.

Many good folks on the left side of the political argument will tell us they are the advocates for free speech; not so — they are the advocates for “politically correct speech.” I am told by a leftist friend that they hate that term politically correct, but for the life of me I cannot find a better term. The left will tell us they are open minded and loving and accepting; some are, but not many are not, only accepting those who mostly agree with them.

Ask left of center persons what they think of the Second Amendment and those who “support and defend the Constitution,” and we get a description full of “bleep;” ask most, not all leftist what they think of those who object to abortion, and we get a very harsh condemning reply. Both sides are guilty of attacking others for exercising free speech; however, most good folks on the left pride themselves on being the champions of free speech much more than the right.

Disagree with many people on the left, notably on abortion, the Second Amendment or President Trump, and stand by for a bleep storm with eloquent language like “stick it up your bleep.” The right is guilty of this behavior, but the liberals will pound their chest and sing their own praises as champions of the First Amendment.

With control of 90 percent of the media, print, electronic and college classrooms, they are continually reinforced in their beliefs that the right are mostly bleeps. Enter the new media like Townbroadcast, small media with a politically correct point of view, but one allowing a counter point and people getting both sides of a debate.

The mainstream media is only 10 percent conservative. Townbroadcast is left wing, but the fact that you are reading this attests to the editor striving for a sense of balance, one rarely found in the major media.

With an overwhelmingly negative media, why is President Donald Trump so popular, or at least as popular as most Presidents at this point in his first term? The major media outlets will tell us it is because the American people are stupid and cattle, led by the President’s celebrity, but I disagree. Most Americans are centrists, not left or right, especially using the strict interpretation of left and right used by the hard core of both sides.

The media attacked President Trump in his first year slightly more than they attacked President Ronald Reagan. The old media in the days of four television outlets (NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN) were shocked that, in the words of Sam Donaldson, we go after President Reagan a hard as we can, but it doesn’t seem to stick. The term “Teflon President” was if not born, reinforced. A president going directly to the people, and not filtering words through the old media, is a sacrilege, a sin, blasphemy not to be condoned by the champions of the left, the media and self-proclaimed intellectually elite Americans.

The overwhelming number of old media outlets are angry because (long drum rolls please) FOX News exists. The old television news and entertainment channels are a constant advertisement for the liberal view, and with a 90 percent condemnation of the President we must ask, why is allowing FOX to exist not free speech? Condemning FOX is as fashionable in the political correct circles as it is to wail and whine about President Trump and condemn the American people who voted for him as racists, sexists, homophobes, bigots and Neanderthals.

Is this condemnation of 49 percent of the American voters not being exclusive and prejudiced? Prejudging 49 percent of Americans is noble in the eyes of the perceived elite, who at the same time condemn prejudice; got to wonder how that works.

Perhaps Ranger Rick is correct that the rotting of America from within continues.

Army Bob – outstanding! Hoo Rah!
Watch the liberals squeal about the truth! You hit a home run. The wrath of the Leftist Socialists will come down on your head, but I know you can take it. Well done. Libs – have at it! Try to bend the truth as I know you will.

    Free Market Man,
    Thank you for the comment.
Our friends on the left must be taking the week off? Condemning the existence of and suppressing Fox News and the NRA in the name of free speech must be logical to the good folks on the liberal side.

    Mr. Traxler,
This “leftie” was, indeed, taking the week off, to entertain close relatives! And what a fine week it was. My brother-in-law, who voted for Trump, provided us with some spirited and good-natured discussion of politics (and we all remain close and affectionate).
Speaking only for myself, not others or major media outlets, I do not believe that FOX News should be silenced. I do think that they should not call themselves news, because they operate in more of an editorial vein, as do many of the more liberal “news” shows. It’s only a matter of semantics and nit picking, but I know you catch my drift.
I’m pretty sure it’s me you are citing with the “bleep it up you bleep” quotes. If I recall, I wrote those in wildly angry response to the Parkland shootings. That was my free speech expressing the intense anger I feel toward events that happen all too often. Perhaps censoring myself was with “bleep” was in-eloquent, but it worked to vent my feelings.
I’m not interested in getting into other issues you bring up as you broad-brush the left with your generalities. But I do want to echo your praise for Townbroadcast and its editor for providing a local outlet for diverse points of view, particularly your own, because I don’t have anyone out here to have a productive discussion with on such topics.
I will continue to read all columnists here for a broader exposure to your opinions. And I, as one small liberal in the grand mix, will keep an open mind for any revisions I need to make to my thinking.
The hope for a better America moves from within…..

      Mrs. Mandaville,
      Thank you for the comment.
“I’m not interested in getting into other issues you bring up as you broad-brush the left with your generalities.”
Interesting that the references to the left and liberals are qualified with many not all, some, or most.
As a family with three cats, two adopted strays, I liked your last column.
      Thanks again.
