What in the world just happened? Like President Donald Trump or hate him, most folks need to admit that he has changed the political landscape.
The Democrats are now the party of the rich; interesting that was a bad negative when the right had the label, but it is now called a badge of honor with the left gaining the title. Vice President Kamala Harris spent more than 1.2 billion dollars (Wall Street Journal Nov. 7) and President Trump less than half of that. The total spent by both parties on all elections hit nearly $16 billion, again with the progressives out-spending what were referred to as the money-grubbing conservatives the party of the rich and Wall Street, the best government money could buy. Interesting that the legacy media is mostly silent on the money spent issue.
Banning tariffs and having free trade used to be mantras of the conservative party with the left wanting protectionism for American products. In this election the unregulated, open, free trade party is the socialists, a sea change in American politics. Big pharma used to be an ally of the conservatives, but they are now in the harem of the socialists; again, an enormous change in politics.
Big food corporations are in bed with the socialists and eating a healthy diet is in the conservative tent, one more enormous change in party politics. “Make America healthy again” is a slogan used by the right, not the left.
The left is attacking Robert Fitzgerald Kennedy Junior, the choice for Health and Human Services director personally, as they have a problem attacking his message of health and fitness. The media preaches that he is anti-vaccination, all vaccinations, which is not true, but the truth never gets in their way of the legacy media.
On the day President Trump is sworn in, whistle blowers will be courageous, brave, smart, never-wrong champions of democracy, as opposed to their current status of being the lowest dregs of society who are lying, disgruntled losers. The conservative party will embrace less, more efficient government, while the socialists will fight for even more government. Adding 81,000 armed agents to the Internal Revenue Service is a clear example of bloated government. 81,000 is nearly seven Infantry divisions, or two Corps, or one theater Army, a lot of troops.
Men and women are biologically different. Polls after the election show that most Americans believe this; however, the progressives still hold to the losing argument that sex is a state of mind and not a matter of science. To my progressive readers, wake up and look at the numbers; it is a loser for you. Biological men in women’s sports is not a winner for the socialists, but they cling to it with religious zeal.
Admin costs in government and staffing levels will be challenged by the new Department of Government Efficiency. This is not a new concept. We keep growing the government to a bloated inefficient organization more concerned with itself than the people, until the government looks like Jabba the Hutt.
President Ronald Reagan had an office or department close to the Department of Government Efficiency. I was in Washington DC at the time and can tell you the bureaucrats hated President Reagan, who challenged the status quo and dared to cut government. During my years in Washington, I found it strange how the government could reduce staffing to “essential personnel” during a snowstorm, with less than 2 percent going to work. It may just not hurt to look at who is essential, when a free day off is concerned.
More than 3 million people work for the federal government, not including contractors. The Department of Government Efficiency can cut 1% just by doing away with the DEI offices, and it will not impact quotas for race, gender, nation of origin and sexual orientation. The federal work force is 18% African American, while the nation is nearly 13%. All categories of federal employment are near or exceed the percents of Americans in the various groups.
The battle to reduce government will be vicious and loud. Charges of racism, sexism, homophobia, Islamophobia, bigotry and sphincter muscle will fly at warp speed. Perhaps we should remember the words of President Barack Obama: “Elections have consequences.”
You do what we say. Also, President Obama had 90 recess appointments; President Trump could do the same, but the media will call it anti-American and unconstitutional. My opinion.
