Tim O’Brien, a senior advisor to the Mayor Mike Bloomberg campaign, former MSNBC contributor and editor of one of Mayor Bloomberg’s media holdings, went down an interesting
path Sunday when he stated on Fox News that Senator Bernie Sanders was no different than President Trump. O’Brien’s point was that Bloomberg is not a national politician like Senator Sanders, Vice President Joe Biden or President Donald Trump, but an outsider.
Really, folks you can’t make this stuff up.
So, let’s look at how Senator Sanders is a clone of President Trump. They are both old white men, though Senators is five years older. They are both Americans, although Trump is proud of it, Sanders, not so much. They are both fathers and married. They have both been elected to political office, Sanders for more than 30 years and Trump for going on four.
I am reaching here; in truth they are not very much alike and are indeed polar opposites.
One is a confirmed socialist; one a confirmed capitalist. One had a long successful career in elected office; one a successful career in the private sector and public office. One loves America; the other a good bit less.
One believes in the American Constitution; one believes it is a racist, sexist, document written by old white guys who owned slaves, and needs to be replaced with a socialist document.
To be honest, the first point in the differences, capitalist vs. socialist, widely covers most of the differences.
O’Brien went on to say that the “Bernie Bros” are a group prone to violence “like Trump supporters.” Have there been reports of violence from Bernie Bros and Trump Supporters? Yes, a few but with millions on both sides it is statistically a miniscule amount. Not to the few victims, I know, but in reality, a very small number.
What O’Brien is doing is reaching, he is overreaching. The primary outcome in the Nevada Caucuses has scared the crap out of the establishment Democrats, along with Bloomberg’s showing in the last debate. As Trump said, “Little Mike” spent $400 million, only to get his ass kicked by “Pocahontas” (Triump’s nickname for Senator Elizabeth Warren).
The Democrat establishment was sure Biden would easily slide into the election. He faltered, and they looked at the others in the narrowing field and said, oops, none are the establishment’s choice. So they injected Bloomberg into the field, in the same way Senator Mitt Romney was chosen by the Republican establishment to stop Trump. Nevada may have been a wake-up call; Super Tuesday will be the make it or break it for the “anybody but Sanders” Democrats.
If Sanders makes a good showing on Super Tuesday, March 3, then he will be unstoppable, unless the Democrats are insane enough to again change the rules after the game has started. The Democratic National Committee did change the rules to qualify for a debate to aid Bloomberg, with disastrous results. If he had done well, we would have heard a hue and cry from all the other Democrats as to how unfair it was to change the rules mid-game.
I do not like Sanders, nor socialism; it always fails and in the long run leaves destruction and death in its aftermath. He needs to be challenged on his endorsement of the “Green New Deal” and how it will work; to date he has gotten away with broad strokes and impossible promises. I just re-read the Green New Deal on the Green Party’s web site. It calls for direct action by a set date as within 10 years, not the simple outline of goals touted by some who have incorrectly maintained that in this publication.
Please read the Green New Deal and actually think about how it can work in the real world. It can’t — well for any length of time, it can’t. After the third year’s harvest with a 25% reduction in cereal grains because of the lack of fertilizer and pesticides, folks will storm the gates of the President Sanders White House.
To the media: please, just ask how it will work.
How can Trump be a confirmed Capitalist when he pays 100.000 large farms $38 billion for nothing. A problem he created. That is Socialism. Is it because they are big voters.I am not fond of Sanders either . But Trump is a disaster.I worked my ASS of to get what I have never got a hand out never asked for one If Trump is reelected the rich will inherit the earth. You cant make this stuff up.
Mr. Longstreet,
Sir,
Thank you for the comment.
One may think you do not care for President Trump. Would you like a President Sanders better?
Thanks again for the comment.
