dilon_aten_238_mb2Dilon Aten, a 2015 graduate of Wayland High School, is a member of the defending champion Cornerstone University basketball team, which opens its season tonight at Indiana Wesleyan.

The Golden Eagles are ranked No. 1 in the pre-season poll for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and they fashioned a 33-5 season record last year. Interestingly, Indiana Wesleyan is ranked No. 2 and Davenport is No. 3.

Aten, son of Justin and Becky Aten of Wayland, averaged 15.2 points, 6.7 assists, 4.3 steals and 6.1 rebounds per game as a senior. He earned All-Conference, All-County and All-Area team accolades, was named second team Dream Team (state) as junior and All-State by Detroit Free Press. He was named All-State Honorable Mention in Class B as senior.

Aten left Wayland as its all-time leader in points and was second in assists. His chief statistical rival at WHS was Wes Hudson, a former Cornerstone standout and All-American, now an assistant coach at Wayland and recruiting official for Cornerstone.
