Austin Marsman, 21, has announced he is a Democratic Party candidate for the Allegan County Board of Commissioners in the 2022 election.
“I’m running because everyone deserves a fair shot. We need a new generation of leadership that’s ready to tackle the kitchen table issues facing our families.” said Marsman in a Facebook post.
Marsman was first elected to the Martin Board of Education in November of 2020 and is active with numerous volunteer organizations, including the local Lions Club.
He is seeking a two-year term now held by Republican Rick Cain in the 7th District, which includes Martin and Wayland townships, Gun Plain Township and the City of Plainwell.
A formal announcement is expected soon according to the campaign.
