Avery Hudson

Wayland High School graduate Avery Hudson, now attending Davenport University, Hudson is one of six basketball players in district four of the NCAA Division II to earn first team Academic All-District accolades.

The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference had two representatives, Hudson from Davenport and Drew Noble from Ashland university.

Honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if applicable) Academic All-America honorees will be announced in mid-March.

Hudson is an accounting major at Davenport and holds a cumulative GPA of 3.70. The team holds a record of 22-3 and conference leading 14-3 record. The Panthers are currently ranked number 16 in the NABC NCAA Division II poll, which is the highest ranking in program history.

Hudson leads Davenport in minutes played (839), three-pointers made (66), free throw percentage (87.8%), defensive rebounds (102), assists (125), and steals (52). He became only the 10th player in program history to make 100 or more threes and dropped 32 points in a win at Ashland Feb. 1.

He is the son of Wayland High School basketball coach Mike Hudson and holds the single game scoring record for WHS.
