After six years, the B-93 radio station is moving its annual Birthday Bash location out from the Martin Motor Sports Park to Fifth Third Ballpark.

iHeart Media Market, the country music station’s parent company, indicated the concert will be changed to paid tickets, rather than free.

“After evaluating the changing concert landscape and reviewing facilities and infrastructure, B-93.7 has decided to move its Birthday Bash celebration to the Fifth Third Ballpark,” a corporate spokesman said. “The new facility for the Birthday Bash will provide better sightlines, concession choices, facilities and seating for all attendees.”

The Martin Motor Sports Park was the site of the celebration’s 25th annual Birthday Bash celebration over three days last June.

Martin Township officials public safety representatives annually were saddled with making preparations and handling the festival, which sometimes included rowdy and boorish behavior often associated with use of alcohol.

The Birthday Bash in earlier years was held at the Allegan County Fairgrounds and Ionia Free Free Fairgrounds, but it had found its home in Martin since 2012.

Martin Township Supervisor Glenn Leep last spring quipped, “The township does all the work and we get nothing… except the $1,000 application fee.”

At 5th 3rd figure the average ticket will be around $50 (lowest is $34) and you’ll be buying your beer, water and food. Figure 4 people will drop $300 for a one day event.
