Basketball mother, wife Teri Hudson dies at age 56

Teri Ann (Cole) Hudson, age 56, of Wyoming, died Monday, Nov. 29.

Teri was the matriarch of the basketball family of Hudsons in Wayland and wife of longtime Wayland High School varsity basketball coach Mike Hudson. Five of her children played basketball for Wayland, including Presley and current girls’ basketball coach Wes.

She was born on October 27, the third of four children to Bob and Sandy Cole.

Teri grew up in Wyoming and graduated from Wyoming Park High School. She joined the Catholic Church in 1984 and was a member of St. John Vianney Church ever since. She married Mike Hudson on May 17, 1986. The highlights of her life were spring break trips to Florida with her family and supporting her kids at sporting events

Teri is survived by her husband of 35 years, Mike, and her children: Weston (Kodi), Presley (Gage Kreski), Avery (Taylor Bell), Ternor, Parrish and Ceezons, and two grandsons. She is also survived by her mom, Sandy Cole; brothers and sister, Steve (Karen) Cole, Craig Cole, Tammy (Gary) Poliski; her father-in-law, Harry Hudson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jeff (Kelly) Hudson, Tom (Patty) Hudson, Sharon (Pete) Jansma and John Hudson; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Bob Cole and mother-in-law, Jeanne Anne Hudson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 4101 Clyde Park Ave. Visitation will be on Thursday, Dec. 9 from 5 to 8 p.m. at St. John Vianney Church. She will be interred at St. Cyril and Methodius Cemetery in Wayland.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. John Vianney Education Foundation.
