Basura: And here’s yet more on Judge Roy Moore

“I don’t need religion. I have a conscience.”  — Dr. Stacey Anderson

Remember Judge Roy Moore? He’d been on the bench in Alabama, until his removal, twice. And he lost his bid to be elected to the U.S. Senate.

For the first time since Reconstruction, (well, almost) the people of the Great State of Alabama elected a Democrat to the U.S. Senate. Can a true Christian conservative also be a sexual libertine? President DJT seems to think so, but there are those that question his conservative bona fides.

Roy had some problems with multiple reports that he had “dated” underage girls, as young as 14, when he was an assistant prosecutor in his 30s. It was stated that the “dating” included sexual conduct – but Roy denied it, though he admitted to the “dating” of young girls as a prosecutor in his 30s.

For the show “Who is America?” Roy was told he was to be given an award for his support of Israel. As part of the process, he signed a release, and, accepted payment. One might hope that with a career in law, Moore would be able to read a contract, and look for red flags. But, he’s been out of practice for a while.

In the comedy skit, Sasha Baron Cohen played the part of security expert Col. Erran Morrad, who showed him an Israeli invention, a “pedophile detector.” The device, which looked a lot like a hand held security wand, would emit a beep when in proximity to a pedophile. Predictably, it beeped when put by Roy Moore.

Roy is suing Sasha Baron Cohen, Showtime, and CBS for $95 million in punitive and compensatory damages. He claims he’d suffered defamation and extreme emotional distress. That seems like a lot of defamation and emotional distress. One can assume that the bulk of the damage must be emotional distress, given that Moore’s reputation took such a hit in that senatorial election.

Larry Klayman, founder of the conservative group Freedom Watch, is representing Moore. Klayman said in a statement: “Sacha Baron Cohen, who is not only low class but also a fraudster, will now, along with Showtime and CBS, be held accountable for his outrageous and false, fraudulent and defamatory conduct which callously did great emotional and other damage to this great man and his wife and family.”

I’m thinking Sasha Baron Cohen should countersue Roy Moore, for the disparagement, by calling him “low class” and “a fraudster,” and seeking to defend himself from the claims that he incorrectly implied that Moore was a pedophile and child molester. How to defend that? Call witnesses to support the claim.

Who says civil cases can’t be interesting?
