Beekeeping program slated for Wayland Middle School

Wayland Union Schools teacher Lori Howell and Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations Pat Velie, applied for and received grants from the Greater Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) – Gun Lake and the Michigan Arbor Day Alliance to purchase 140 bee friendly tree species. Eco Club at the high school helped plant the trees Wednesday. Mrs. Howell will be running a beekeeping club this year at the middle school. Mike Conner, certified arborist, from Honeytree Nursery, delivered the trees and educated and assisted students in the tree planting.
