The Wayland girls’ and boys’ varsity basketball teams have split this week in their two O-K Gold Conference games.

The boys defeated Middleville Thornapple Kellogg Monday evening in a makeup contest, 55-41, but lost 60-49 to Wyoming. Carter Nyp scored 25 points to pace the victory.

Wayland’s boys now sport a 7-10 overall record, 3-6 in the O-K Gold.

The Lady Wildcats split in unexpected ways. They lost 33-31 to Middleville Monday, but beat Wyoming 57-52. the following night. They beat the Trojans earlier this season, but lost to the Wolves last month. Skylar Stora led the ‘Cats in scoring in both games, with 10 and 13 points, respectively.

Wayland owns a 4-13 overall record for the season, 3-6 in league play.

Both the Wildcat girls and boys will be at home Friday evening to take on East Grand Rapids.
